What is The Wardrobe is Open?
The Wardrobe is Open is the graduation project of Emilie Sandré from the Design Academy Eindhoven. It is a modular costume system for children. Today’s costumes often come with readymade stories, gendered clichés, and little room for imagination.
In response, Emilie created nine flat shapes that can be endlessly combined and reimagined. Each piece is laser-cut from reclaimed textile sample books, giving hard-to-recycle materials a second life and letting children invent their own characters.

The Connectors to Assemble kit can be used as extra connectors with The Essentials kit or as playful links for children or adults to make belts, headbands, bag handles, bracelets : the limit is your imagination! With this kit, you can learn how to sew, to compose with colors and create with the help of the guide.
